Barney Learns to Knit, and Nap

Barney visits East Tennessee Gayle and earns his keep.

Big news about Barney! This just in from etgayle

Barney Knits Gayle JuJu SocksBarney came to visit us in East Tennessee, after a wonderful spa vacation with Fortis.

From the first, he said he wanted to ‘earn his keep’, so we put him to work. He helped make dinner for the girls, even learned to knit ‘gayle juju’ socks. Once he had them made, he refused to take them off (those piggies are starting to stink…)

He also helped outside doing yard work where he could, but there were a few challenges.

Mostly gayle watched him work, showing her true supervisory skills. She tried to educate the little purple dude on the fine art of ‘the nap’. But it took a little bit for him to figure out how to really master it…

East Tennessee Gayle and Barney

We’ve got a bunch of pictures we’ll put in our next blog post … some are not pretty. Barney is scheduled to head out for his next engagement on the KillBarney Tour later this week – another Tripawds member is anxious for a visit!!! Bon voyage little workman!!!

Barney and the Big Dawg

Three legged Cane Corso Fortis treats Barney to a spa day and much more during Texas Hill Country stop on the KillBarney traveling Tripawds Barney doll tour.

We’re hoppy to hear Barney got to spend some quality time with our favorite three legged Cane Corso

Three Legged Cane Corso Fortis and Barney Love the Texas LonghornsThe Hessenius’ had some good old southern hospitality planned for Barney but Fortis didn’t cooperate! He loved Barney from the time he ripped open the FedEx box. Within the box, Barney waited patiently with a gift from Kobe and Mackenzie of Malibu. It was Fortis’ favorite treat, a NB turkey roll. The bond was sealed and Fortis was in love.

Fortis gave Barney a Texas Longhorn mini Tee as a welcoming gift. They ate together, slept together, and often just gazed out the window dreaming of finer things. They roasted marshmallows over an open fire, went swimming at “Fortis Beach”, and even chewed on Fortis’ “favorite sticks together. Fortis doesn’t share those sticks with just anybody mind you.

Barney and Fortis also got treated to a day at the spa where they both received a chiropractor and acupuncture treatment as well as lots of special pampering. Oh, I almost forgot, Fortis saved his little purple buddy from a deadly Texas coral snake. FYI, Fortis’ song for Barney was “Dragonfly” by Fernando Ortega. Your guess to why is as good as mine. Well there you have it. Fortis and Barney’s time together.

Not only is Barney an international traveler, but he has now officially gone coast to coast, to coast. His first stop was in California, and now he’s back there lovin’ the fun in the sun. A far cry from Fairbanks!

Barney Attempts Suicide

The KillBarney Tour takes Barney to Florida for a fun filled visit with Spirit Jake’s pack – Wolfie and Nala. But was it all fun and games?

We finally heard from Barney and discovered why he’s taken his time to tell us about the latest stop on his Killbarney Tour. He’s having emotional issues. Nala and Wolfie – pack mates of Spirit Jake – sent us a brief story about their visit, but from the photos they sent we can tell what really happened…

Wolfie welcomed Barney with a brief tour of his Florida home, but things  quickly took a turn for the worse…

Fed up with all these dogs mouthing him for a few days and passing him on, Barney contemplated ending it all…

Wolfie, realizing the affect of his actions, has a change of heart…

He jumps in to save Barney from certain drowning…

Or, did he just need to cool off?

Regardless, we are happy to report that Barney has received a much needed cleaning and is now back on the road – happy and healthy after some thoughtful counseling from Nala…

To find out what really happened during Barney’s visit to Florida – and whether or not he has taken to drinking – be sure to check out Jake’s Journey soon. And stay tuned for details about the next stop on the KillBarney Tour!

A Little Bit of Barney History

Read all about the KillBarney blog and learn how the KillBarney Tripawds Traveling Barney tour came to be.

Perhaps a little history lesson is due while we wait to find  out where Barney is headed next. Followers of the KillBarney Tour, may wonder if there is more than one Barney. Maggie asked that exact question before posting about her visit with Barney in Maine. The following is our reply …

A long time ago, in a lush land by the sea far, far away, Tripawds founder and Chief Fun Officer Jerry G. Dawg had dragged his people away from their computers to go for a walk and they came upon a yard sale. Jerry sniffed a Barney doll and the couple thought of how fun it would be to see their dog destroy the purple icon that had come to identify a completely different generation of TV children.

One Barney led to another and before long Jerry had developed a co-dependent relationship with his purple posse. There was Big Barney, Travel Barney, and his arch nemeses, the Singing Barneys.

Periodically, one Barney would succumb to the thrashing, but more and more often Jerry cherished his Barneys so they grew in numbers as they were liberated from more yard sales and thrift store shelves. When the pack hit the road after Jerry’s amputation, a big ol’ bag o’ Barney’s had to come along. Barney had his own RV Blog first, posting pictures from roadside attractions across America.

When Jerry passed, Barney was there with him, on their Barney blanket, under the big Montana sky. Back at the rig, a bag o’ Barneys awaited their fate.

One went to Jerry’s girlfriend Lalla in Israel first, and another to his best friend Winston in Oakland, CA. Barney B in Texas, needed one of course, as did Jerry’s look alike, Rocco in Washington.

When the Tripawds Blogs community was launched, Killbarney started the first member blog and was quickly promoted to be the third site Administrator, along with Admin and Jerry. Here the Tripawds team shared photos and videos from Jerry’s cross country adventures with Barney. Then came the Killbarney Tour idea.

One of Jerry’s few remaining Barney dolls was packaged up and shipped off to Caira Sue. Wyatt continues to destroy another – which has become affectionately known as FrankenBarney around the Tripawds headquarters – and the rest is history, in the making. Stay tuned for more Travels with Barney!
